Fantastic GCSE results!

Fantastic GCSE results!

We have reason to be enormously proud of students every year, and this year is no different. Our 2022 leavers have achieved some excellent results in their GCSEs.

After two years of the GCSE exams being cancelled, it was back to exams for the 2022 cohort and they have performed extremely well. Now that Covid disruptions are largely behind us, it is easy to forget just how much this group of students had to cope with in terms of upheaval to their GCSE studies, with lockdown affecting a huge span of time during their course. We have witnessed the turbulence this has caused some of them but have also seen the way in which they rose to the challenge. It is especially gratifying therefore to see these great young people achieve some fantastic grades and to be secure in moving on to their next steps. We will miss them here but wish them all the very best for their further studies and life adventures.

There were some exceptional individual achievements. Our highest performing student, Max Starmer, achieved an incredible set of results with seven grade 9s and two grade 8s. James Alcock achieved three 9s and five 8s, Jodi Diffey and Jack Burch achieved two grade 9s and three 8s and Oscar Brady achieved two grade 9s, in fact over 20% of our students achieved at least one grade 9, a fantastic accomplishment. Jodi, who was ecstatic with their results, achieved a grade 9 not only in Maths, but also in Further Maths, a truly superb performance.

Across the curriculum we can see that our students and teachers have continued to be ambitious and successful, and we can see some incredible achievements. English Language results are even higher and in Literature 35% of students achieved a top band mark, between 7 and 9 (Grade A, A* and A**); Design Technology students enjoyed the same percentage of top grades. Other strongly performing subjects include French with close to 70% achieving a top band grade and Geography students, on average, achieved over one grade higher than predicted by the National Pupil Database for the Department for Education; a seismic performance from our Geographers!

We are really pleased to see that our students continue to experience even greater success in Maths, all three Sciences, Religious Education, History, Food & Nutrition and Art with brilliant grades achieved and much reason to celebrate. As always Drama students have excelled with a 94% pass rate whilst 50% of Music students achieved a 7 or above.

We couldn't be prouder with well over 50% of students achieving grades in the top band; a testament to all the incredible hard work of our students and teachers.

Our students are moving on to A-levels at The Purbeck School Sixth Form, Lytchett Minster Sixth Form and Thomas Hardye Sixth Form, as well as to BTECs, apprenticeships and vocational courses at Bournemouth & Poole College, Kingston Maurward College, Brockenhurst College and Weymouth College.

We wish them all the very best of luck!
