Further Maths
Overview
For talented mathematicians, we offer a Level 2 Certificate in Further Maths, designed to bridge the gap between the GCSE course and Level 3 qualifications such as A-levels and apprenticeships. It is suitable for students who are expected to achieve grades 7,8 and 9 in GCSE Mathematics, and are likely to progress to A-Level study in Mathematics or Further Mathematics.
Curriculum
The following topics are covered in the course:
- Number
- Algebra
- Coordinate Geometry (2 dimensions)
- Calculus
- Matrix Transformations
- Geometry
There are two assessment papers covering the breadth of the specification, each worth 50% (one with calculators, one without) and each containing a mix of question styles.
